Lexus LF-A Supercar Spied In Production Form - Powered By A 500hp V10 PlantWe first saw the Lexus LF-A back in 2005 at the Detroit Motor Show and since then it has been a long development process through a weak global economical climate that has cost Toyota Motor Corporation US$4.47billion in losses and a hard fought development process. The car seen here though is not the one hidden under the race car body seen testing at the Nurburgring. These updated spy shots show for the first time new rear lights as well as different body attributes to the production prototype revealed two years ago. There are also some other exterior differences in the form of a mesh net to replace the rear diffuser, probably for testing purposes. The front bumper is also new. The LF-A will also feature a number of technical innovations to ensure environmental friendliness without compromising on performance. Sources have revealed that the car will be powered by a V10 engine that is good for between 500hp and 600hp. Lexus will race a 4.8-liter V10 LF-A at the 24-hour Nurburgring which starts this 21st of May. A convertible/roadster LF-A concept was unveiled in January 2008 but there is currently no clarity on whether it will be produced or not. What is speculated a lot is that the production coupe will be shown at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show in preparation for its 2011 market launch. source: world car fans www.zerotohundred.com

Upcoming 500hp Lexus LF-A Caught On Video Testing At The ¡®RingHonda has frozen development on its new NSX, that leaves only the Lexus LF-A to give the Nissan GT-R a good run for its over engineered money. And with the LF-A¡¯s V10 engine with over 500hp, it looks set to be a great show for us bystanders and admirers. The LF-A has undergone a number of changes like the now very prominent rear wing, redesigned air scoops on the upper rear quarter panel behind the door windows, and more sharper side mirrors. The Lexus LF-A is nearing its production-version public debut at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. Check out the spy video above of the new car testing at the Nurburgring and revel in the beautiful sound of ten cylinders working in harmony to generate the 500 horses. Lexus Takes The 500hp LF-A Racing First Before It Makes World Debut[/size] The production model of the Lexus LF-A is yet to be officially introduced in fact there is no official word on it yet but there is already a race-spec version of it that¡¯s set to compete in this weekend Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race. Seen here for the first time in race livery, the 321km/h LF-A sportscar is powered by the same front-mid mounted 500hp V10 engine that will power the standard car. The race spec LF-A will be contested by Gazoo Racing which is a Japanese market, Toyota owned, e-commerce website that happens to have its own racing team. The team will be made up of a combination of professional drivers, toyota test drivers, dealers and a pilot that Lexus refers to as ¡°Morize¡± who in none other than Toyota¡¯s soon-to-be CEO Aiko Toyoda - grandson of Toyota¡¯s founder. According to a previous release from Lexus, the knowledge gained from the endurance race will be fed back to engineering teams to assist with further development of the production LF-A. Lexus LF-A Goes Up In Smoke At The Nurbugring 24-hour Endurance Race The highly anticipated Lexus LF-A has much to prove and a lot of stiff competition to beat. To help with the development and hopefully to create an early impression, Toyota took it racing at last weekend¡¯s Nurburgring 24-hour Endurance race. It did create an impression indeed as it went up in smoke. It caught fire during the race and had to retire some time into the race. I guess Nissan can breathe a sigh of relief, for now. Check out the video above to view the drama unfold. source: www.zerotohundred.com
