1. Don't panic. Calm down. This is very important.
2. Call your friends or relatives to send you to the nearest police station to make report (if possible, bring along your Car Registration Card).
3. After make the report, bring the police to the scene where u lost your car for further investigation.
4. If you think your car has demand in Thailand, ask the police to roger the Malaysia-Thai border to spot your car. High chances car being sold there, especially 4wd, pick up truck and Japanese cars.
5. After that, notify your bank which you loan for your car, and inform them about your car losses. If the bank ask to to make full settlement for your balance of the loan, DO NOT do so. Tell them that you are making claims from insurance company. Til then, you will continue paying monthly installment as usual.
6. Then, notify your Insurance. It is very important for you to get all the following documents ready for the Insurance Adjustor to speed up your compensation/ claim:-
a. 3 months pay slip
b. a copy of IC
c. EPF slip
d. Form D (optional)
e. bank statement
f. employment letter/ confirmation letter
Note: the faster and more complete info provided to the Insurance Adjustor, the faster you will get your claim/compensation.
Point 1-6 has to be done within 24hours, if possible.
7. The Adjustor will then collect it from you once you have the details. Upon seeing the Adjustor, you may ask him any questions in your mind. The reason Adjustor need the info above is to ensure no fraud case involved.
8. Usually Adjustor will drag your payment, because they will try to find back your car and save the compensation. That's why the next step is very important.
9. Ask the Police who took your report, to issue the letter of case closure. Once the letter has been issued, immediately pass it to the Adjustor. The Adjustor has no choice but to make payment to you. You know what to do lah in order the police to issue the letter asap... malaysian way lah.
10. Compensation will be based on the market price of your car. Market value will be rate from few sources, newspaper, motor trader, 2nd hand car dealer and your car main Service Center.
11. At this stage, you have to follow up and call the Adjustor EVERYDAY to ask for the payment status. Usually, Adjustor will take 3-4weeks to issue the cheque (after you passed them the letter of case closure).
12. Adjustor will usually offer you a price for your car. If you are not satisfy with the price, you may bargain or appeal. You are entitle to appeal 3 times. On the 3rd appeal, the price will be final and you have to accept it (usually the rate is 75% and above against your insured amount - depending on your car age).
13. Once cheque sent to you, make GOD DEMM sure to bank in immediately. Because if you have not bank in the cheque and your car is found, the insurance company will immediately cancel the cheque.
14. The End

The above are based on my personal experience. It is not easy and involved lots and lots of time on following up with the Adjustor and Police.
For my case, i almost get the cheque after 3 months and the week before i get my cheque, my car was found by my friend.
thank god it was in 1 piece, only interior parts were stolen, car body dented everywhere and rim dented almost all 4 of it.
