Mugen To Introduce Hardcore FN2R Civic RRThe FD2R Civic Type R is an awesome piece of Honda machinery. Some may say that it does not have the soul or character of original Type R¡¯s but that¡¯s progress; a necessary evil in pursuit of excellence. But what about its cousin, the FN2R? Well, we have never got behind the wheel of the lesser sibling but we don¡¯t hear very good reviews about it. So enter tuning firm Mugen. Yes, they have also tuned the already very capable FD2R but rather than sit around and wait for the next generation Type R to arrive, the Japanese boys in red have decided to improve upon the FN2R Type R - a car that AutoBlog claims to have lost the thrill of the older Type R. Not much is known about the changes in store. However, based on changes made to the FD2R, these pictures, and the fact that this car might take on the Renault R26.R, you can expect much: upgraded suspension and 18-inch wheels, giant front splitter and rear wing, huge exhaust, and a powerplant putting out 237 bhp and 160 lb-ft. If the pictures don¡¯t lie, however, it looks like the bigger Brembo brakes might not appear, and the back seats will remain in place. Judging from the video, the handling is also going to be much improved and extreme stiffness is to be introduced to the car - watch how the car hops and skips over the curbs and changes direction almost as soon as the tyres come in contact with the asphalt.
